The massing is derived through a process of exploration to satisfy the 4 design brief main focuses: Users, Environment, Green and Buildable Focus.

Intentional shifting, addition and subtraction of volumes creates green pockets and walls to introduce daylight, animate the interior spaces, passively insulate and reduce the heat gain.

Jury Citation:

NUS E7 is a research facility nested in the centre of the NUS campus. The jury commended the project for its beautiful façade design. The composition of various elements of the building envelope, such as the choice of materials, colour and the impeccable detailing of its screens and ‘green wall’ are particularly notable.
