Major Asia projects among finalists for Bentley’s 2017 awards

Several organisations and major construction projects in Asia have been named finalists in Bentley’s 2017 Be Inspired Awards programme. These annual awards honour the extraordinary work of Bentley users advancing infrastructure design, construction and operations throughout the world.

Ten independent jury panels comprising distinguished industry experts selected the 51 finalists from more than 400 nominations submitted by organisations in more than 50 countries. The finalists will present their innovative projects to their peers, the jurors, industry thought leaders, and more than 120 members of the media as part of related infrastructure forums at The Year in Infrastructure 2017 Conference, from 10 to 12 October in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

Among the many organisations and construction projects in Asia that have been selected as finalists include:

1. BIM Advancements in Construction:
Leighton Asia - for the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities in Hong Kong, which is part of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Project; and China Construction Sixth Engineering Division, Tianjin University of Technology and Tianjin Tianhe-Cloud Building Engineering Technology Co Ltd - for Sanya New Airport Reclamation Project in Sanya, Hainan, China.

2. BIM Advancements in Rail and Transit:
MRT Corporation Sdn Bhd - for Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) SSP Line in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co Ltd and Yungui Railway Yunnan Co Ltd – for Application of BIM Strategy for Dali to Ruili Railway Project in Baoshan, Yunnan Province, China.

3. BIM Advancements in Utilities Transmission and Distribution:
Pestech International Berhad – for Automation and Integration of Substation Design Work for 230 kV Project in Kratie and Kampong Cham, Cambodia (below image); and Hubei Electric Power Survey and Design Institute – for Macheng Caijiazhai Wind Farm Project in Macheng, Hubei Province, China.

4. BIM Advancements in Bridges:
Long Jian Road & Bridge Co Ltd - for the Heihe - Blagoveshchensk Heilongjiang River (Amur River) Road Bridge Project in Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province, China.

5. BIM Advancements in Power Generation:
China Water Resource Pearl River Planning Surveying & Designing Co Ltd – for Wugachong Reservoir Project in Pu’an County, Qianxinan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, China; and PowerChina ZhongNan Engineering Corporation Limited – for Digital Delivery of Qiongzhong Pumped Storage Power Station (below image) in Qiongzhong County, Hainan Province, China

6. BIM Advancements in Roads:
CCCC First Highway Consultants Co Ltd - for Application of BIM Strategy on the Transformation of Meiguan Expressway to Urban Road Design Project in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, China.

7. BIM Advancements in Municipal Operations:
AAM Group – for Creating Singapore’s National 3D Map Using Mobile Mapping in Singapore (below image); Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited, PowerChina – for Application of BIM Strategy for Shenzhen Qianhai Municipal Infrastructure in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, China; and Tianjin Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute – for Construction and Design General Contracting of Retrofit Project at Haiyu East Line Municipal Road in Sanya, Hainan Province, China.

8. BIM Advancements in Water and Wastewater Plants:
Beijing Institute of Water – for Tongzhou Water Works of Beijing South-to-North Water Diversion Project in Beijing, China; and Shanghai New Jinshan Investment Holding Group Co Ltd - for Xinjiang Water Purification No.2 Plant and Supporting Pipe Network in Jinshan District, Shanghai, China.

Other organisations and infrastructure projects in Asia that have been named finalists include:

1. BIM Advancements in Environmental Engineering:
Stream Environment Sdn Bhd – for Automated Waste Collection System for Changi Airport Terminal 4 in Singapore; and NJS Engineers India Pvt Ltd – for JICA Assisted Ganga Action Plan-II in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.

2. BIM Advancements in Water Networks:
Manila Water Company - for Manila Water Natural Calamity Risk Resiliency and Mitigation Masterplan in the Philippines.

3. BIM Advancements in Reality Modelling:
CEDD-AECOM-The Earth Solutions – for Development of Anderson Road Quarry Site in Hong Kong.

4. BIM Advancements in Manufacturing:
CPC Corporation, Taiwan – for Talin No.12 Topping Unit Project in Kaohsiung, Taiwan; and Satria Technologies Sdn Bhd – for Sustainable Solutions for Control and Protection Systems in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.
