New Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 and LTM 1110-5.1 all-terrain cranes

Liebherr’s new eight-axle all-terrain crane, the LTM 1650-8.1, is available with 54 m and 80 m telescopic booms. Customers can buy both lengths and change them easily, said the company.

The LTM 1650-8.1 travels with an axle load of 12 t, complete with its 54 m telescopic boom and the front supports. Liebherr said the crane can also be offered with a wide range of transport weights and axle load versions, to ensure cost-effective global mobility for axle loads both above and below 12 t.

The load capacity of the LTM 1650-8.1 has been increased by 15-50% compared with its predecessor (LTM 1500-8.1), depending on whether the telescopic boom includes guying or not. With a fixed lattice boom from 6 to 62 m in length, the telescopic boom can be extended easily. As an option, the fixed boom can be adjusted between 0° and 38°. The luffing lattice boom has a length of 21 to 91 m.

The LTM 1650-8.1 operates with a maximum ballast of 155 t. The ballast plates are compatible with the slabs from the LTM 1350-6.1, LTM 1400-7.1, LTM 1450-8.1, Liebherr’s nine-axle mobile cranes and the LR 1350/1 crawler crane.

The LTM 1650-8.1 is powered by a Stage V engine, but it can be adapted to comply with other countries’ emission standards, such Tier 4F for the US or Stage III for low regulated markets. In Eco mode, the complete pump drive can be disconnected automatically when the engine is idling and then reconnected by the intelligent controller when it is required.

In addition, the new 110-t Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 all-terrain crane features axle loads of 12 t with 13.1 t of ballast, but can also be driven with a gross weight of less than 48 t with a maximum axle load of 10 t. With its maximum ballast of 28.7 t, it remains below an axle load of 15.5 t. A quick-change system for the ballast slabs is available to ensure flexible modifications.

The rear supports of the LTM 1110-5.1 feature a double-stage design and offer a support width of 8.3 m, which is 1.3 m wider than the front supports, increasing the capacity over the rear supports. Liebherr calls the combination of the trapezoidal and variable support base VarioBase Plus.

The five-axle LTM 1110-5.1 has a 60-m-long telescopic boom, with a 10.8- to 19-m folding jib available which, as an option, can be adjusted hydraulically between 0° and 40°. Two 7-m lattice sections can also be installed to extend the telescopic boom to achieve a maximum hook height. As such, the LTM 1110-5.1 features the same system length as the LTM 1130-5.1. A 2.9-m erection jib and a runner, which can be swung to the side, round off the equipment list.

The LTM 1110-5.1 is powered by a six-cylinder Liebherr diesel engine, which develops 400 kW and torque of 2,516 Nm (Stage V). It can also be built to comply with other regulations, such as Tier 4f for the US or Stage III for low regulated markets.

The DynamicPerform version of the ZF TraXon gearbox with an oil-cooled multi-disc clutch is used in the new LTM 1110-5.1. This delivers improved starting and manoeuvring at a level similar to that of a gearbox with a torque converter, said Liebherr. The new LTM 1110-5.1 is also equipped with Eco mode to reduce fuel consumption and noise emissions.
