Kobelco excavators and crawler cranes

Kobelco Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd (KCEI), a subsidiary of Kobelco Construction Machinery Co Ltd, will be showcasing its hydraulic excavators and crawler cranes.

Headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with a factory in the Sri City industrial park, 75 km north of Chennai in Andhra Pradesh, KCEI manufactures 14- to 50-t-class hydraulic excavators and 55- to 260-t-class crawler cranes. The company also provides sales and services of the products in India and Nepal.

With India’s booming economy, KCEI recently expanded the production capacity of its hydraulic excavator factory to meet the strong demand in the country. The company started out with a production capacity of 1,200 units per year in 2011 and has now increased it to 2,000 units per year. In the upcoming development, KCEI will carry out a full-scale expansion to push its production capacity up to 3,000 units per year.

The building area for the hydraulic excavator factory is currently 13,900 sq m and upon expansion, it will occupy 20,900 sq m. Construction work, which is expected to be completed at the end of January 2019, includes expansion of the buildings, revision of production processes in general such as improvement of assembly and paint processes, as well as enhancement of cooperation with the crane factory, improvement of safety and creation of a better work environment.

SDLG wheel loaders and motor graders

SDLG will be introducing a 5 t-rated wheel loader to the Indian market, featuring a larger bucket capacity, heavier operating weight and a new cooling design system.

“With the Indian government continuing to invest in infrastructure, the new wheel loader will be a great fit for heavy-load applications such as material handling, land clearing and general earthmoving,” said Surat Mehta, head of the SDLG business in India.

SDLG will also display its G9138 motor grader and L946 wheel loader. The G9138 is the smaller of two motor grader models that SDLG offers in the region and is ideal for construction of smaller municipal or rural roads. It is powered by a Deutz BF4M1013-15T3R/2 engine that has an output of 111 kW at 2,100 rpm, and can reach maximum 39 km/h forward and 24 km/h backward speeds. The L946 wheel loader offers a maximum 3.5 cu m bucket capacity, a maximum 1 m dumping distance and a 129 kW rated power.

The construction industry in India has grown since 2015, said Mr Mehta, and he expects this trend to continue. “For wheel loaders, SDLG has a strong market position in the 3- to 5-t range, and we plan to further strengthen our position. For motor graders, there is potential to grow our customer base as well, with road construction activity levels remaining high in India.”

Case earthmoving and road construction equipment

Another global player to join bauma Conexpo India is Case Construction Equipment, a brand of CNH Industrial. Case plans to exhibit its backhoe loader, vibratory compactor, motor grader, dozer, skid steer and excavator.

In October of this year, Case inaugurated its new showroom in Faridabad, Haryana, spanning across an area of more than 5,000 sq ft. Neil Woodfin, CNH Industrial CE APAC brand leader said, “India is a promising market for our industry. With a massive investment going into the development of infrastructure in the country, we foresee an encouraging growth of approximately 10% CAGR for construction equipment over the next five years.”

Earlier in April, Case reached a milestone in India by delivering its 5,000th vibratory tandem compactor,  the 752EX. Manufactured locally in Pithampur, the model is powered by a 3.9-l four-cylinder engine, with a mechanical injection system and internal exhaust gas recirculation, which delivers 76 hp at 2,200 rpm and 332 Nm of torque at 1,300 rpm. This new-generation engine - developed by sister brand FPT Industrial - is designed for excellent performance, fast response times and best-in-class fuel economy.

Volvo earthmoving and road equipment

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) will be showcasing a new wheel loader and asphalt compactor. “With infrastructure developments increasing in India, we will be introducing two new models that provide the high performance and reliability contractors need to meet tight project deadlines,” said Dimitrov Krishnan, vice president and head of Volvo CE India.

Alongside the two new models, Volvo CE will be showcasing a range of machinery from across its product lines. Models on display include: EC200D and EC210D excavators, SD110BA soil compactor, P5320B paver, EC250D crawler excavator and HB38 hydraulic breaker attachment.

“The range of earthmoving equipment displayed at bauma Conexpo India 2018 demonstrates how Volvo is building a better tomorrow,” said Mr Krishnan. “We’ll also be showcasing the powerful performance of the EC200D during light demonstrations at the show. We introduced the machine just 12 months ago, but it’s already established itself as one of the best 20-t units in Asia.”

The EC200D has already delivered iron-clad performance in India for iron ore producer Geomin Industries. “With a capacity of over 2 mil t/year, our iron ore treatment plant is one of the largest in central India,” said Sandeep Dasgupta, vice president of Geomin Industries. “With rising demand for iron ore-related products, we needed a machine like the Volvo EC200D, which has shorter cycle times and outstanding lifting capabilities, to keep up productivity.”

To facilitate a one-stop solution for customers, Volvo CE and Volvo Financial Services will be launching competitive financing schemes and on-the-spot credit approvals at bauma Conexpo India.

Another highlight of the show from Volvo CE is the low-noise HB38 hydraulic breaker attachment, which is available for the EC380D excavator. Contractors in India can now choose from 12 of these hydraulic breakers. With designs that feature the manufacturer’s trademark quality and reliability, the attachments can handle even the toughest breaking and trenching jobs in mining, quarrying, demolition and construction. The range runs from the HB70, with an operating weight of 7,348 kg and a length of 4,265 mm, down to the HB14, with an operating weight of 1171 kg and a length of 2,322 mm.

Volvo CE is also celebrating its 20th anniversary of serving customers in India. The company manufactures about 10 different models of construction equipment in Bangalore and some of the models are constructed from 95% of locally manufactured components.

This year‘s bauma Conexpo India will take place from 11 to 14 December at the Huda Grounds in Gurgaon, Delhi.
